Born at Gentofte near Copenhagen in 1800, Jensen was a flower painter. He was a pupil of Fritz at the Copenhagen Academy. In 1822 he went to Paris to study painting on porcelain at Sevres. He visited both Rome and Naples, and became a member of the Copenhagen Academy in 1825 as the leading painter on manufactured porcelain. The Musee de Montpellier retains two works of flowers executed in the town, and the Altona Museum retains another, Fleurs. There are other works by the artist in the Oldenbourg Museum and the Copenhagen Museums.
